Let me start off by saying this was one of the BEST EXPERIENCES in my medical journey to
regain some control of my bodily functions.
I was diagnose in February 2017 of having a Spinal Arteriovenous Malformation which is a
rare abnormal tangle of blood vessels on, in or near the spine. It took three weeks for the
medical center to diagnose me, surgery to correct to the best of their ability and another five
weeks in rehabilitation. I basically lost functions from the waist down which consist of
walking normally,urine/fecal incontinence. Discharged papers gave instructions for continued
physical therapy, drug usages but no instructions on correcting this very embarrassing
I have spent hundred of dollars on bladder leakage pads thinking this was the norm until I made
an appointment with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in 2019. I was given a referral which stated
I should seek out a neuro urologist to better understand my neurogenic bladder function and
mention it may be that I had a small spastic bladder causing frequent urination. I followed up
upon my return and was given a referral to have pelvic therapy.
This referral introduced me to Vitality Women's Physical Therapy & Wellness. Who knew that
you could have physical therapy to correct these medical issues and why wasn't I told two years
ago. It took about 5-6 sessions to bring this issue under control. Who knew that breathing
exercises, and pelvic muscle massages could bring this issue under control. I now can sleep 8
hours without getting up through the night 2-3 times to use the bathroom. I have not purchase
pads in months, no longer wear pads at home, no leakage issues.
This form of physical therapy needs to be shouted from the roof top. I have been speaking to
other women who have urinary incontinence and they had no idea there was help.
Thanks Ariana and the entire team.
