As many of us are spending a far greater amount of time at home and with limited access to our previous exercise routine, staying active during COVID-19 can be challenging. Additionally, for those with children at home, finding the time to exercise may be even more difficult than before Illinois’ stay-at-home orders were mandated. Vitality has some tips to help you stay active during quarantine to keep you physically and mentally healthy during this unprecedented time.
Go for a walk. Consider running your essential errand on foot or going for a walk after a meal. Explore new paths in your neighborhood. Consider walking in your house during a work conference call.
Dance. Have a dance party with yourself or your kids. Consider doing an at-home dance fitness video with our lovely and talented team member, Lynnea.
Do an online workout class. There is a wealth of free exercise videos online and on YouTube, as well as many gyms offering free online or streaming classes during the COVID-19 crisis. Some our favorites include:

Sit on an exercise ball. Consider sitting on an exercise ball for part of your day while you work (if it’s an option for you)
Workout with a buddy. Set up a virtual hangout via zoom (or platform of your choice) and complete a workout class together.
Schedule your activity. Set your activity as an appointment on your calendar so you are not interrupted and to hold you accountable.
Household chores. Spending time spring cleaning and working in the yard can be a great way to stay physically active while also feeling accomplished with your to-do list.
Meditate. Okay, this one is not necessarily how to stay physically active during quarantine but it is very important to help keep a healthy mind.
